Learning Outcome 5

Students who complete English 110 should:

Document their work using appropriate conventions (MLA).

My works cited page was as perfect as it could be where we did it in class, but I also used MLA format since eighth grade and throughout high school, while also learning how to use APA format for other classes. For my honors english classes, in ninth and tenth grade, we did our work cited pages on our own while other classes were ok with using websites such as purdue owl and easybib.

For paper 2, my works cited page was once again, as perfect as it could be just like my first paper. I did the correct citation format and made sure the layout was correct too.

When it comes to citing my work, I often do very well. On paper 3, it was perfect. I never usually have a problem with my works cited because I double check everything, I make sure everything is size 12 and has the same font, I also make sure the indents are correct. I succeed in having a great works cited due to how I double check it and because of how much experience I have had doing it whether it be formatting it myself or using a citation generator, but for this class, we formatted them together with no generator. It is also important to remember to put them in alphabetical order and to make sure you are using the right format. Some professors will prefer APA while others, such in Bio, will prefer CSE format. When integrating quotes, if it follows a sentence you do not cite the quote until the end, always with the page number and last name of the author. The citation goes right after the quote if you are not writing more beyond that specific idea and it is important to use parenthesis. Once again, I have different experiences with citing my work so with quotes it can defer depending if it is an article, book, scientific paper, etc. It is also important to credit authors if you are paraphrasing! I think from the start of the term to the end, my works cited had no errors because of how much value it held during my four years of high school and being in honors/AP english. To conclude, I was successful every single time with my works cited and quotations and as long as you remember the steps that have to be taken to create a properly formatted works cited, there will be no issues! It is just as important to look back at your works cited as it is your paper so if you do make errors you can fix it.
